Beware The DVP (Don Valley Parkway)
One of the main road arteries in and out of the
downtown core of Toronto is the well known "DVP" or
Don Valley Parkway. While improvements are continually
being made to the DVP it is an area you should avoid
at peak traffic times. One of the main bottlenecks
on the DVP is where it crosses Highway 401 at the north of the downtown
area. Traffic flowing into and out of the city converges with the
flow from the 401 and the result if often a stop and go situation.
You can check the current conditions on the DVP by viewing the
live
Compass Cameras Website HERE.

407 Can Be A Good 401 Alternate
Highway 401 is what keeps Toronto moving for
the most part. Like any overworked highway, the
401 can quickly become solid with traffic should
an unfortunate accident occur or just from shear
volume of commuters. In the case of poor traffic
conditions on the 401, there is another east - west
alternative in the form of the 407 Express Toll Route.
Although there is a charge to use this highway, the 407
can end up saving you time and gas in the event
of total gridlock on all other main east - west
routes. For information on the 407 ETR you can
visit the
407 ETR Website HERE.

Loooong Weekends On The 400
Toronto residents have a long tradition
of heading up to "Cottage Country" on weekends
and holidays. Highway 400 carries the bulk of this
cottage bound traffic out of the city area and toward
the beautiful country north of Toronto. If you are planning
to head north of Toronto, be sure to plan you road trip
to avoid Highway 400 from early afternoon to the end of rush
hour on Fridays.

life in Toronto you will often hear it
referred to
simply as "The Leafs". To learn more about the
